Offenbach Opera Premiere
The Bellingen Community Arts Council presents an Australian Premiere Tour performance of Offenbach's Chamber Opera 'Pepito' by Scott Blick and Blue Bottle Productions.
The Opera, in French, is a farce about love during times of battle, set in Spain during the Inquisition. For this performance, it has been translated into English from French by Scott and set in Australia 1945.
The three singers in the Opera - Janneke Daalderop, Scott Wellstead, and Matthew Baker, and the Director - Scott Blick - are on tour from the Netherlands. They are accompanied on piano by Vincent Parmeter.
The Opera will be preceded by a Classical Recital by the superb Bellingen Youth Orchestra conducted by Ann Phelan. Some well known excerpts from Offenbach Operas will be sung during the Recital. Sponsors are the Federal Hotel and Bellingen Shire Council. All profits will be donated to the Bellingen Youth Orchestra.
Get tickets at $25 each from Emporium Bellingen, Nexus Community Gallery at the Old Butter Factory (6655-9222), or at the door on the night.
